This was an original story, I think, that spawned so many other clones after it. I guessed the ending at the very beginning, but I think only because I've read so many stories that borrowed from it. Asimov's a very good storyteller. This is a good read while on a long train or plane ride. Don't be disappointed by the lack of a shocking ending. I personally don't think good stories require this, and this is a good story.
A bit different from what I am used to read from Isaac Asimov, but I guess it's an early book.
I've been a fan of Asimov since I was 7 years old. As such, I begin each Asimov story hoping to enjoy it. Some of them are fantastic - easily 5-star material - like the Robots/Foundation series. Some are whimsical yet enjoyable stories that are deeper than they at first appear, like The Last Question. Others, sadly, are plodding and predictable; Youth is such a story. The dialogue here is iffy at best, annoying at worst, and this isn't just a quirk of the year it was written because I've read other Asimov stories from the 50s which weren't as irritatingly filled with goshes, gollies, gee whizzes, and the like. And the twist to the tale really ought to nullify such use, especially in retrospect. This is one Asimov story that really hasn't aged well, and I couldn't recommend it to Asimov fans or anyone new to the Good Doctor's work.
Short story, but total perfection in its journalistic integrity. As gas mall there is one of the best writers of all time , and the surprise end is delightful. I recommend this highly for young and old readers.
Red and Slim capture a couple of unusual animals so they can use them to join the circus. This was an interesting story with a cool twist at the end.
