Classic American Ambulances & Funeral Vehicles ist ein interessanter Bildband über die Entwicklung der Krankenwagen und Bestattungsfahrzeuge in den USA. Das Buch ist unterteilt in die Bereiche Krankenwagen und Bestattungsfahrzeuge, jedoch tauchen in beiden Kapiteln immer wieder die "Combinations" auf.Die verwendeten Fotos sind allesamt fast formatfüllend, jedoch auch fast vollständig schwarz-weiss. Gerade bei der Vielzahl an Farben und Farbkombinationen die diese Fahrzeuge hatten, wirkt dies stellenweise schon fast störend. Anzumerken ist, dass zwischen 1900 und 1920 kaum Fotomaterial zu finden ist.Jedes Foto ist mit einem kurzen Text ergänzt (englisch), in dem kurz erklärt wird, welcher Hersteller auf welcher Basis aufgebaut hat.Auch Verlängerungen der Radstände u.ä. werden erwähnt. Verwendete Materialien fehlen fast vollständig, technische Daten ebenso.Fazit: viele Fotos von sehr bis extrem seltenen Fahrzeugen, die man bis dahin kaum kannte - insbesondere da es sich meist um handgefertigte Einzelstücke oder Kleinserien handelte. Wer sich für die großen amerikanischen Kombi's interessiert und keinen Wert auf Farbfotos legt, ist hier richtig.
